summer update

well everyone, i never would of thought of myself as a blogger, but i became inspired from friends of ours. they have a family blog and it is so neat. you can keep family and friends updated with pictures and other happenings in your life. i am still working and figuring things out, but hopefully soon i will get better at this.

this month has been very busy for us. jesse was off of work for the whole month. what a great gift to have him home with us. we (just jesse and i) went on vacation for our anniversary to carlsbad, ca. we had a great time. we just relaxed and visited with friends. we also had a great cajun style crab feast one night. it was a wonderful rejuvination time for us. we came home and 6 days later we (jesse, me, jj and ellie) went on vacation to oceanside, ca. jesse's sisters and their families joined us too. the kids had a blast! we went to the aquarium, swam in the hotel's pool, visited with friends, ate out, and went to the beach. the kids had so much fun. they went hunting for seashells. we even had a smore cookout (courtesy of the mayer family). overall, we had a lot of fun.

on top of vacations, jj started a jumpstart kindergarten class this summer. it lasted 4 weeks and he learned a lot. it really taught him how things are going to go in kindergarten this year. his teacher says he is very bright, he just needs to learn a little more self control. such as sitting and working quietly and taking his time and pay attention to instruction. he made so many new friends, many of which should be at the same school this year. he starts kindergarten august 18. my little boy is all grown up. jj has also been attending swimming lessons this summer. he is taking his second session and is doing well. he is getting better everyday. we also had a breakthrough this summer. he finally figured out that if he wears floaties on his arms, he wont sink!!! he almost jumped off the diving board last week. he got all the way to the edge and was too scared. maybe next time.

ellie is getting smarter and growing up too fast. she is soooo bossy. her and jj play hard and fight hard. lately we have separated screaming and fighting matches. we are trying to teach love and sharing, but i have to remember that they are brother and sister. her hair is getting longer and curlier too. i love it. i love doing her hair everyday. she is pretty good about sitting still, but picking out clothes watch out. you could pick her an outfit and she wont wear it because she already knows which clothes are in her closet and what she wants. sometimes i have to show her her minnie shirt is dirty so she cant wear it. somedays she just wants to wear a ballerina dress. her favorite shoes are her light up princess cowboy boots. for those of you who havent seen them, wow!!! she loves them. she wants to sleep in them and thinks they are beautiful. i have gotten so many compliments on them too.

jesse goes back to work next week. this will be his second year as an elementary principal. he is very excited about his school. test scores come out soon and everyone thinks his school did really well. i only have about 3 more weeks left and then i go to work too. i am watching my nephew part time while his mommy and daddy go to work. he is 4 months old and is too cute. ellie adores him. she always wants to hold him. well thats all for now. i plan on doing weekly updates. they definitely wont be this long, but just wanted to give everyone a summer update so far. hope everyone is well and enjoys our blog. lots of love
