beijing, birthdays and back to school

well, our household is obsessed with the olympics. we tivo'd the opening ceremonies and have every night since then. we love them. maybe its because we are both competitive and sports lovers. i love to watch swimming and gymnastics. i get so involved in each event. the one night when we decided to go to bed early and tivo the rest of the night events was when the mens 4 x 100 relay won gold. oh my gosh. i spoiled it for myself, but good thing we had it on tivo. it was amazing. tivo is amazing. well we have directv so we have dvr, but it is the best thing ever invented. for those who dont have it, you are definitely missing out.

this week was crazy filled with birthdays. my dad's, trevor's, my nephew's and our dog's. i cant believe my little brother is 17. most of you remember him when he was a tiny tot. he is definitely not tiny anymore. he is 6'4'' and has super big muscles. to celebrate my dad and brother's we went to garden grove and had dinner at a great seafood place. they serve it like they do back east where they just dump your food on the butcher paper covered table and you eat with your hands. awesome food!!! we had oysters, shrimp, crawfish, king crab legs, dungeoness crab, and blue crab. here are some pics of that night.

this week we also were getting jj ready for school. making sure he has shoes that fit and all the other back to school shopping. we find out today who his teacher is. he starts on this coming monday. we are very excited. kindergarten orientation is friday morning. we will get to meet his teacher and see his classroom then. jesse wont be able to go with us to his first day of school because his school starts that same day. hopefully he will have some of his summer school friends in his class.

my niece, sienna, cut her hair this week for locks of love. for those of you who dont know her, she has super long hair down to her waist. she has never had a real haircut, only trims. she is 8. she was so excited and wanted it really short. we thought she would have second thoughts but she is in love with it. i think it makes her look more grown up.

jj and ellie have gotten so tan this summer. their arms and legs are dark!!! they definitely got jesse's skin color. summer is almost at an end. we had lots of fun this year. i dont remember it being too hot either. jj is going to a baseball game tonight with jesse. this will be his first game. we are doing a trial run for a dodgers game.
