after getting back from our cruise, jesse, me and the kids drove down to carlsbad to stay for a couple of days. jesse had promised jj earlier in the summer to take him to sea world, so that was a for sure stop on our week agenda. we also were able to visit with our great friends, wes and brittany mayer.
we met them for dinner at a sushi place. the adults love it and surprisingly so does jj. ellie could take it or leave it, but she does love her some miso soup and edamame. when we got back, jj informed us that he eats rainbow rolls. oh ok...sure like every other 5 year old. so when we were ready to order, i got him a rainbow roll. he ate all the tops of the pieces and 4 entire pieces too!! we were all very impressed.
jesse was able to golf and i took the kids to the hotel pool. they had a really cool splash center with a great slide. great times were had by all.
back to sea world. jesse and i hadnt been there in many years and jj went awhile ago but cant remember ever going. they had a blast!!! both jj and ellie were able to touch a dolphin, manta ray, and starfish. they saw shamu, dolphins, sea lions, sharks, penguins, and on and on. they got to do everything the park offered for them to do. we even sat in the soak zones at all the shows. we all got wet at shamu, and only jj and jesse got soaked by the dolphins. san diego had great weather the days we were there. it was a definite break from the heat. nice overcast mornings.
everybody had a great time. it was our last time away before jesse goes back to work and jj starts school. i cant believe that jj starts 1st grade in a couple of weeks!!! we hope everyone has had a great summer as the school year almost gets going again.
at the sea lion show, he asked ellie to come down. he asked her if she wanted to jump into the pool. he even held out his hands as to give her a boost. she just shook her head no and didnt say anything. it was very cute. the whole audience laughed.

Great pics! Makes me want to go to Seaworld! Glad you all had a good time! And as for last comment you left about how our lives are so similar...it's because we are soul sisters! Now if only I could catch up to you with the whole 2 kids thing :)
Looks like you had a great time. The hotel sounds cool. What hotel was that? We are thinking about doing a "stay-cation" and I want to find a hotel with a cool pool for E to play in. It's bummer the summer is rapping up so quickly though.
