top ten thursday

oh my heaven!!! this weeks topic is a tough one. i dont know if i can come up with ten reasons, but i guess i will try. here we go...

(again, no icon, our home computer is broken and is being fixed.)

TOP TEN REASONS WHY I LIKE TO WORKOUT/RUN

1. some peace and quiet. i REALLY like the alone time that i get when i am either running or working out. my mind feels refreshed and ready to start the day.

2. the transformation it makes on your body. i mean, come on, lets be real. no one worksout just to workout, there is always a goal in mind or an outfit to fit into. i want to have strong, defined arms and a toned belly.

3. i think its cute when ellie does my workout video with me. jj could care less. she wants to watch me and do it along side. even if she has to get up at 6 am. sometimes she wants to run too. i will occassionally take her in the stroller and push her. one time, she wanted to run too, so i let her get out and run. it must have been the cutest thing i ever saw...for like 15 seconds. until she had enough and wanted to ride again.

4. the example i set for my kids. i loved the look they had when i finished my race last weekend. they were so proud. i also want them to see that being active is a good thing. eating healthy food and working out are great ways to stay healthy.

5. the boost of energy it gives me for the day. i am a morning person. i would rather work out in the morning and then start my day, rather than working out at night. i feel so blah at the end of the day. even if it means me getting up at 5:45am to start the day.

6. the drive it gives me. i am EXTREMELY competitive. you should see the change in my demeanor during a good board game. its kind of scary. if i notice it, than i am sure other people notice it too. i like to push myself a bit by taking on new challenges or starting new workout routines.

7. shopping. it gives me a reason to spend money, because it is for a good reason. ;) just last week, i bought some new sports bras and a girls got to look good and fashionable while sweating up a storm. right?

8. the soreness in your muscles. this one makes me think of jesse. he LOVES the slight soreness you get after working your body. a couple weeks ago, he went to the driving range and the next day his torso was achy and sore. he loved it. me...i dont care for the extreme pain i get in my knees when i walk down the stairs.

9. the fresh air. when i run, i have to do it outside. i have become to hate my treadmill. outside, you get to smell the early morning air and see the senior citizens walking their dogs. its nice. except for the one horrific thought that plagues my mind when i run outside. getting mauled by a mountain lion or a coyote. i am sure that the odds are low of that happening, but i already have thought of what i would do if that were to ever happen. make yourself big, throw things at it, and gouge out their eye (if they happen to get that close to you).

10. hmmm...the last one. oh! i know. those who know me, know that i LOVE to eat. i especially love dessert. i have convinced myself that if i workout then it gives me a free pass to eat dessert whenever i feel like it. even though, i realize that the dessert i eat completely erases the workout i just did. it still makes me feel good. i also realize that if i took desserts out of my life, then i would look so much better and i would reach my goals faster. but really? can anyone possibly live without chocolate?

wow! i am surprised that i came up with all ten. i didnt think i could do it. if this sounds like fun, then check out the host site at domestically challenged and link yourself up. have a great day. until next week...

Ha! Me too, I'm so competitive. I'm so bad sometimes that if I am losing (like bowling, I am horrible at that) I get pissy and cranky.
I'd be a great coach cuz I push everyone else around me when I'm exercising, just that competitive- and if they aren't competing with me, I'm encouraging them to do so.
Great list! :D

I am so not a runner!! But if I were, the fresh air would be my fav reason!

I am so with you on #10. If I didn't work out I wouldn't want to imagine what I would like :)
