i know i have talked about her before and how much i love reading her blog, but last sunday i finally got to meet her! i got to meet pioneer woman!
she wrote a cookbook and is doing a book tour. i thought we would be gone during her southern california stop, but i was wrong. she was coming to torrance on sunday afternoon. i was super excited to finally see her in person.
i asked my friend, rebecca, if she wanted to join me and she said yes. so i picked her up from her in-law's house in pasadena and we made our way down towards border's bookstore to stand in line. to tell you that we were excited is an understatement. we were completely giddy! like kids in a candy store. we bought our books there and got our colored wristbands. we knew we were in the first 100, so that was cool, but when we walked towards the back of the store to wait in line, we realized that we were around 30th in line. yes...you heard me right, 30TH!!!!! we sat down and started to thumb through the cookbook. it is a beautiful book by the way. lots of great recipes with stories and great pictures too.
after a little bit, they stared putting out chairs for her discussion. we were in the second row on the end. i kept thinking that this couldnt be happening. we couldn't have possibly been so close to the front of the line, but we were. after a total of 2 hours of waiting, she finally came! she had a little Q & A time and she sang too! she is so down to earth and nice and beautiful.
we had to maneuver our way back into the "getting our book signed" line after the discussion and then we waited around 30 minutes or so before it was our turn. rebecca went first. i was so nervous. i was so hot and sweaty too. i had to keep checking to see if i had, as PW says, "the rings of fire". now it was my turn.
i had gotten my mom and myself a book, so i had her sign both of them for us. she is so sweet and easy to talk to. i had the border's employee take pictures of us talking. they actually turned out pretty good.
we were out the door by 6pm. i couldnt believe it! we came, we saw, and we conquered! thanks rebecca for coming with me. i had a wonderful time. :)
