it's baseball season...kind of

winter baseball season has officially started. this is the first year i signed the kids up. normally, i sign them up for spring ball, not winter ball, but all the parents said how beneficial the season was during a transition year.

next spring, jj will be playing in the farm league. they use a pitching machine and it is more like real baseball.

jj came up to bat twice and both times he didnt get the bat on the ball. he was really frustrated and disappointed. we just want him to get one hit, to show him that he can do it. jesse said that fielding-wise, he did ok. he missed a pop fly and bobbled a grounder. hopefully he does much better next game so that he can boost his confidence up.

i signed ellie up for tball, since she has been dying to playing baseball like brother does. i figure this is the perfect opportunity to see if she really likes it or not. we have taken a break from ballet and tap to test her sports skills.

her coach called to say her team was the dodgers. she was so happy. she kept going over to jesse and telling him, "dada, i am on your favorite team".

jj is on the reds, with a lot of his school friends. he was so eager to get out there and start playing.

winter ball season only does games on sunday with no practices. the season is only 10 weeks long. super easy and laid back.

sunday rolls around, and i still havent been able to find ellie some baseball cleats. i had to resort to soccer cleats because it is not baseball season and they dont have their bball cleats in stock. ellie liked them because "they were shiny".

both of their games were at 12:30, so we were going to have to split going back and forth between the two games. ellie was cracking me up the whole time. when she was playing catch with her teammate (i use "playing catch" very loosely here), i saw she kept taking off her glove. i told her that she can't keep taking off her glove, she needs to keep it on, in case the ball comes to her. she says that her hand is sweaty. i say that i know it's hot, but you still have to keep the glove on. she then thinks for a long while and hands me the glove and says "i dont want to do this anymore". i inform her that she will do it and she will keep her glove on. she marches off to keep playing catch.

another time, right before the game is going to start, she raises her hand to ask the coach a question. i am thinking what in the world could she have to ask right now? finally he calls on her and she says, "ummmm...what are we doing?"

LOL

it's as if she is looking around at how hot it is and thinking what in the world are you people doing out here?

we will see how much she improves at the end of the season. hopefully she does well. if not, then she is a dance type of a girl. not a sporty girl.
