we have finally finished unpacking and getting settled. it has been 2 1/2 weeks since we moved. we decided to pay for movers and boy, was that ever the right decision. i cant imagine how long it would have taken us to move by ourselves.
you dont realize how much crap you have accumulated over the years, but it is a lot!!! we had a big yard sale the weekend before we moved so we wouldnt have to take it with us. i wasnt sure how much traffic we would get, so i put out our signs on thurs. night for a saturday and sunday sale. i made sure to put them where i would get jj's school traffic.
i started setting up at 630am and i didnt get a chance to sit down until 9am. we were packed!!! i had old baby stuff and other knick knack things. just when you think, "who is going to want this!?" someone buys it. crazy!
or you get the lady who in the midst of a crowd of buyers asks me, "does this sewing machine work?" me: yes "can you show me?"
REALLY!!?? right now while i have a dozen people around me asking how much stuff is?l!! the stinkin' mini sewing machine is only $3!!!! it's not a make or break situation. holy moly lady!!!
after all was said and done, we made over $600 and had a couple huge donations to the library and the salvation army. we got rid of stuff that wouldnt fit in the new house and used the money to buy some things we will need in the new house.
our new house is really nice. much smaller. we went down about 1000 sq ft. its kind of weird how much nicer it is when everyone is closer together. we went from 4 bathrooms to 2!!! hallelujah!!!!
the backyard is so nice. it has full grown trees and bushes. flowers here and there and everywhere.
the kids love their new rooms. they are way smaller than what they were used to, but everything still fit. in fact, the kids havent had any sleeping issues since we moved.
in the other house, they might make their way down the stairs at least twice after been put to bed. here they havent done it once. why is that? a smaller, noisier house =less bedtime distractions. maybe the old house was too quiet??
i think my absolute favorite part of the new house...no stairs. growing up, all i wanted was a house with stairs. we only had a one story. all my friends had two stories, and i so wanted a two story.
yeah, not so much now. its exhausting!!! when you forget something upstairs, it seems like a lifetime away to go get it. one stories are much nicer and easier. i can vacuum the whole house with only two outlets!!
charlie is getting used to the neighborhood dogs. she was very spoiled before. she had no dogs on either side of us for a couple houses. here, she has two on one side, and one on the other. she doesnt know what to do with herself. she is constantly running back and forth barking and smelling and showing them who's boss. the house straight across from us has a dog who just sits on their driveway all day. he doesnt move or bark or chase people. he just watches the cars and the goings on of the street. he is so good.
i just saw a coyote the other day in the wash directly behind us. it was 10 am too. i figured by that time they should all be hiding somewhere or sleeping.
i will post some pics of the new place soon. :)

I laughed hysterically when you mentioned you could vacumn only using two outlets! I enjoy our one level house too! Although I could use every extra opportunity for exercise possible. Take pics of your backyard..I would love to see it!
