timeout chair and clifford

well, we knew it was bound to happen. jj got his first timeout at school. he says, " i was playing rock, paper, scissors and then the teacher said why dont you go sit in the chair". i am sure there is much more to that story than what he is telling us. actually, i didnt even find out until after dinner. i asked him how school was and all he ever says is "fine" or "good". tomorrow morning i am going to ask his teacher the real story. other than this one instance, he is doing really well in school. he is already reading books he brings home. he is learning more letters, sounds, punctuation marks, and proper writing. we are so proud of how he is doing in school.

last week his teacher sent a letter home explaining different projects the class will be doing (helper of the week, guessing jar, clifford in a bag). jj says that everyone will get a chance to do all of them. well today when i picked him up from school. he runs to me carrying a totebag and yells across the quad, "mama!! its my turn to take clifford home today!" he was so excited. i guess that is why he forgot to tell me about his timeout. clifford the big red dog is the "class pet". each kid gets to take him home one night and bring him back to school the next day. there are reading comprehension books and a journal in the totebag. with mama's help, jj dictates what he and clifford did once he was in his possession. then they get to draw or write a picture or story. it is a very clever idea. he is so excited. clifford is at this moment sleeping with jj in his bed. before bed, we prayed that jesus would help him have a better day tomorrow and help him to be a better listener. we will see how it goes tomorrow.

yesterday was a little girls birthday in jj's class. she got to wear a crown and everyone sang happy birthday. i asked him why she was wearing the crown and he talked so much about everything they did for her. after he was done, he asked, "could it be my birthday at school?" so i looked at the calendar and saw that his birthday falls on a wednesday. growing up i never had my birthday when school was in. so i know the excitement of having your birthday while you are at school. i am glad he will have that, plus i get to bring goodies in for his birthday too.
