funny and crazy stories

this past week has been filled with all sorts of things. friday was my brother's homecoming game. which also happens to be my highschool homecoming. he is on the football team. he is a receiver and some other position i dont know. his girlfriend's homecoming was the same weekend. she goes to another school. he took her to her homecoming. i just got an email with some pictures of them. he is so handsome. they look so cute together.

saturday was just a lazy day. we didnt really do anything. got to sleep and hang out in our jammies all day.

on sunday, we woke up too late to go to church. i also dyed my hair brown. my roots were way too long. too expensive to keep my highlights up. after the kids' naps, jj notices my hair and says the funniest thing ever: "mama, i dont see your yellow fur... i mean hair". he also likes to call the hair on our body, fur too. he says dada has lots of fur on his legs.

this week at school is red ribbon week, so jj is learning to say no to drugs. we had never really brought up the subject with him before, so i was curious as to what he would understand of it. he comes home and tells me that smoking is really bad for you and your throat. it is not healthy. he also tells me that smoking is bad for your "lings" as he taps the front of his chest. soo cute. this week he got his recess taken away for telling another kid to spray his water on another kid. i told him that was not very nice. i am very disappointed. his response, "why? i didnt do it. i just told him to do it." yet another lesson to learn.

this is another good story, one day this week was crazy tie day. he was going to wear a christmas tie he has for dress up in his closet. we are finishing up brushing our teeth, when he says i need to go potty. next thing i hear is "uh oh, something bad happened". i go to look at what it could be and find that since his tie is adult size, it hangs very low. he didnt turn it to the back before he needed to go, and peed all over the bottom of the tie. we got one of dada's ties and used that instead.

here are a couple of really cute things the kids have been saying lately that make me smile and sometimes laugh. ellie's excuse for anything she doesnt want to do is "its a beautiful sunny day". she says it first thing in the morning "good morning, its a beutiful sunny day". then when its naptime i tell her, time for bed. her response, "but its a beautiful sunny day". when its time to pick up the toys and take a bath, her response, "but its a beautiful sunny day". soo cute. also, jj mixes up certain sounds in a word. he calls a commercial "ma-ker-shul" and hamburger "hang-ga-ber" i love my kids they make me laugh all day.

here is a story that tops all stories for the week. yesterday i hear a noise that i have been hearing for a couple of days. it sounds like the icemaker in the freezer. like the ice is dropping into the bin. this day i hear it and open the freezer door and it doesnt seem like new ice was there. i close the door and hear it again and realize it is coming from the drawer under the oven. i know what it is and immediately jump on the island and squirm my way out of the kitchen. luckily the kids were watching tv, oblivious to what i was doing. i then stand on the kitchen chair and call jesse. while i am telling him the story, i see it!!!! a mouse! i never really thought of myself as one who would be scared of mice, but i am. very much so. i take the kids outside and stay there while my brother in law is en route to my house to help get rid of this thing. he gets there and sees that it has started to pull the insulation from around the dishwasher and has been making its way completely around my kitchen, through ALL of my cupboards. that grosses me out more. i just cooked dinner last night. i must open those cupboards a dozen times during the day. we stay outside while he sets sticky traps and uses raid to smoke him out. no luck. too scared to come back in, we pick up jj from school and have a picnic of little caesars pizza in the driveway. then straight upstairs for naps. i realize i need the baby's bottle, formula, and water which are all in the pantry and by the sink. at this point in the day, i know a mouse is caught because i can hear is scratching like crazy on the fridge. i cant see it from looking in to the kitchen, but i need those things. i run as fast as lightning, grab the bottle and the other things and run straight upstairs. i am too sickened to even look at the mouse. after naps, back outside until dinner. cant bring myself to go in, so i end up picking up el pollo loco for dinner. at this point, my other brother in law graciously disposed of the creature. it was still alive when he put the bag in the trash and it squeaked. gross! later jesse comes home and i feel more at ease, but still nervous. we put the kids to bed and come back downstairs to hear squeaking and scratching. we caught ANOTHER mouse! at least we are getting them out of the house. this one is putting up a fight and is very vocal. charlie finally notices her/him and sniffs and really cant leave the thing alone. somehow between jesse and myself, we get the thing in a plastic bag and he smashes it with the broom. that whole process took 30 min. i know some of you might be thinking, how mean to do that to a mouse, but i think the worlds mouse population is doing just fine without these two.

no more mice today and i dont hear anything else. hopefully we caught a mama and dada before they had any babies. otherwise you will be reading about another frantic episode of the mice in our house in a couple of weeks. i still must have at least 10-12 traps still on my kitchen floor.

We have ALWAYS thought of you as scared of mice, (spiders, bugs, etc...) very much so! We love your storytelling abilities though, you make us laugh!

You're SO brave! I'd be afraid to clean my cupboards for fear that I'd find more of them. I hope I never find them in my house, but I'm sure I will since the odds are not in my favor.

Wow, you guys are great hunters!! I can just picture Jesse and you trying to get the mouse in the bag. That reminds me of our RA retreats when Jesse loved to "rough it". HA! I love you guys and miss you very much. I just read this blog for the first time and love it. JJ and Ellie are so cute and precious. What a wonderful family you guys are.

I'd love to talk to you guys sometime, but as always, I'm not sure I have your phone #. My email is bwatson23@hotmail.com, if you wouldn't mind sending me an email with your Yucaipa #, that would be awesome.

I finally have a picture book published, it is just coming out right now called, "the boy who went ape". I wrote out my main draft while I was visiting your house! I want to send you guys a book but am still waiting to receive them. I also want to send Logan's crew one too!

Miss ya!

Actually, maybe it isn't the first time I read the blog, I can't remember these details!

signed, your forgetful uncle jammin

PS Amy and I are in victoria, Canada. Very beautiful city across the water from Washington. Jesse would love it because it is not that sunny. well, sometimes it is, but not as much as Cali. By the way, you guys are always welcome if you ever wanted a vacation in the great north. I am going through the immigration process, so I can't work until that is done. BUT, as soon as we can possibly afford it, we're headed straight down to beautiful yucaipa and beyond.

Amy has heard all about these great people and is growing suspicious that these friends of mine are real!
