karate and sewing

the last couple of days, i have been sick. i think i had a small stomach bug or food poisoning. either way, i am feeling much better now. after a couple of days of having an upset stomach, i am finally able to eat meals now.

on tuesday nights, jj has karate class. he just had his second class. he loves it!! he is finally getting the routine down. he is also making friends so he doesnt feel completely lost. he just got his uniform too. of course, it is too big, like all his other clothes. we are hoping that karate will help him focus his energy. here are some pictures:

last night, we signed jj up for t-ball. he wont find out his team until last feb. opening day is march 28, ellie's birthday. sometimes i think we are more excited than he is. he does like to hit the ball, but catching is his downfall. he doesnt quite get how to open his glove wide enough to get the ball inside. practice makes perfect. regardless, he will look adorable in his uniform.

since, i got a sewing machine for christmas, i thought now would be a good idea to open the box and actually see how it works. i am more of a hand sewing type of person. i make christmas stockings and cross-stitch. this is all new to me. well after a while, i realized i need thread and a bunch of other stuff before i get started. so off to joann's we go. patterns are on sale for 99 cents. i got 4 different kinds. hopefully the easiest kinds. some are little girl dresses, bags/purses, and mother/daughter aprons. i made an apron once in home ec. class and i remember it being kind of simple. i wanted to get everything i needed while i was there, but i was running out of time and i thought the best idea would be to actually read the pattern before i go and buy fabric and accessories that i need. i have such great ideas and plans for my potential sewing skills, but i dont know if reality has another plan. keep me in your prayers and i will update everyone on how this adventure plays out.
