sewing 101

i broke out the new sewing machine this weekend. i had been promising ellie i would make her a dress since i got the thing. i bought some fabric earlier in the week and was very excited about getting started. on saturday, i drove up to victorville to have my mom help me get this dress done. i didnt really remember how to sew on the sewing machine and needed a lot of help reading the pattern. things were going well, until after i cut the pattern out of the princess fabric. we realize that the dress pattern is upside down!!!!! ugghhh! we were able to make the pockets right side up, but it was ok. i had planned to make this dress just for play and it was practice for me too. after hours of working on this dress. it was finally done. having made this dress, it is soooo much easier to buy clothes at the store. ellie was sooo happy to finally have her dress that her mama made for her. i have more fabric, but i think i will do things a little differently next dress. i will keep you posted.... here is ellie modelling her new dress.
