since i rarely go, the kids have never gone to the car wash. they ran around like chickens with their heads cut off. they thought it was cool the place had video games and that you could see the car go through the machine. we waited outside for them to finish drying our van and cleaning the inside. well, they pull the van up right next to where we were sitting. ellie sees the man get out of the drivers side and start to spray the windows, dash, tires, etc. after awhile of watching him, she blurts out, "hey, get out of our car!!!!" i immediately hush her, all the while giggling under my breath. i explain that he is cleaning our car and that he needs to be in the car to do that. she obviously doesnt understand and says, "i dont want him in our car!!!". i just distract her because i am not getting through to her and she seems to forget after a while. i think the man heard her because i saw him smiling, but he didnt say anything. such a protective and possessive little one.
next story...yesterday, jj decided to act up while eating dinner after being told repeated times to knock it off. finally i put him in his room and make him eat there, with no distractions. that works, to a degree. after 15 minutes he comes down with his half eaten plate and says that he is done eating. i explain the rule of the house, you dont get dessert unless you finish all your food. he knows this rule, because he always finishes his food. so this day its a surprise to me that he decided he didnt want dessert. he asks to go outside to play and i let him. ellie finishes her food and follows him outside. they are outside playing with bubbles while i get ellie's dessert ready. when i call ellie in to eat it, jj jumps up and asks if he can have dessert. i remind him of his dinner that he didnt eat, which i had saved just in case he wanted it. he says he only wants dessert and i say sorry! he begins to cry. when i mean cry, i mean cry , whine, wail, anything you can think of. he is making a scene in our backyard. i bring ellie in to eat and he stays out there. i have the window open so i can hear him really well, but i dont think he realized that. over the course of 5-10 minutes, jj is going on and on. he was saying some really funny things so i had to write them down so i didnt forget them.
hey , i know that sounds a little weird but it was REALLY funny at the time.
the stubborn boy didnt eat dinner and therefore didnt get dessert or a snack later. here are some of the things he said during his fit:
"you are so mean to me"
"i just want a normal life!!!"
"i just want one thing to eat, PLEASE!!!!!!
"PLEASE help me!!"
"i wish i could have one crumb or a raisin????!!!!!!
if my neighbors could hear him they would think i starve the boy on purpose. also while saying these things over and over again, he would find things sitting on the table and pick them up and slam them down on purpose. i guess making a point??
am i bad for being entertained by my son's temper tantrum??
