the memorial day weekend was sooooo nice. we didnt do anything. we were able to sleep in and relax and veg all weekend. it was a nice needed break. i dont remember which day it was last week, but on one of the days, ellie tells me that she found a spider in the garage. i start to walk towards it and realize it is pretty big and black. me being the scaredy cat that i am, tell jj to move back from the spider since he is closer to it then i was. a responsible and brave mother would have grabbed her child and removed him/her from danger, but i was not brave and thought me giving direction from a distance was much better. i come within 2 or 3 feet of this spider which is by the way, the size of a half dollar. that is pretty big for me. he is hairy and gross. it looks like a mini tarantula. i try to investigate this little thing and it swivels its body to face me and then it lifts its front feet. it reminded me of how when a child wants to be held they hold their arms up at you. i thought the spider was going to jump on me so instead of killing it by stepping on it, i decide to throw a soccer ball at it instead. yeah, great idea. after about 10 times of missing the spider and trying to dodge it running from me, i finally get it. i hit it again just for good measure. sorry gross spider. it was either me or you. you entered the wrong garage.
also i have been preparing for an upcoming wedding. which is actually in less than 2 weeks. jesse and i are in the bridal party and i already had my dress altered, so i fits perfect, but i wanted to get into a little better shape anyway. i have been running on the treadmill about every other day . lets say that when i started running, i looked absolutely pathetic. i could only run for 5 minutes before stopping and gasping for air. now i am able to run over a mile and a half. yay me!!!!! i think i figured out how to breathe while i run and once i figured that out, running wasnt so hard. i still hate it, dont get me wrong, but it does give you the fastest results. i am actually a little addicted to it. i started thinking about 5k or other races i could do. i remembered when i was in high school, i ran in the camp pendleton mud run. it was lots of fun. you ran a lot but they had obstacles to take your mind off the actually running part. to end the race, they had a 30 ft pit filled with mud that you have to go through to cross the finish line. you are filthy when you are done, but it is sooo much fun. so yesterday, i googled the race and found out that it is being held this weekend!! except that it has been sold out since january!!! maybe next year. i am interested in training for a 5k at the end of summer. i will keep you all updated on that news. who knows maybe i will even run a half marathon one day. or maybe not. ;)
jj has his last full week of kindergarten this week. his only homework is to read a book a day. i think i am more happy than he is about that. he has a small awards ceremony next monday and field day next tuesday. then...he will be a first grader!!! can you believe it!!!! i cant.
yesterday, we ate at a pizza place for dinner with my sister in law and her family. they had some prize machines there and so, of course, the kids were drawn to them and we gave them a bunch of quarters to get some things (junk). both sienna and jj managed to get the same thing. get this... a faux tattoo sleeve. its like pantyhose that is open at both ends, with designs on it. you are able to slide it on your arm and pretend that you have a sleeve. who thinks of that and why do they think that would be appropriate for a child.
this friday, my brother graduates from high school!!! yay!!! he is also the valedictorian. we are sooo proud of him. he is going to attend vanguard university in the fall. also, this sunday, is my other sister in law's (sonia) baby shower. she is having a girl, sophia vanessa portney. i am in charge of the appetizers. i will be preparing corn and black bean dip and 7 layer dip. i will post pictures after the busy weekend is over.
i will try to do better at posting more often.

I agree with you about the whole spider thing...I hate them. And I am scared of them. Last week while I was watering my hanging flower basket a spider got on me! The nerve! I saw out of the corner of my eye on my shoulder something brown on my white jacket. It was a spider! I screamed and immediately threw off my jacket and ran inside the house still tearing off all my clothes one piece at a time because I didn't know where it went! Josh was sitting in the living room and found it quite amusing! Gives me shivers just thinking about it!
