today is the fourth of july! happy birthday america. we are extremely grateful for all the men and women who have served our country with great pride. you have made our country what it is today. thank you.
today is also our brother in law's birthday. ted turned 29 today. we had a little bbq/swim party for him at his mom's house. it was a very nice time. all the family was there. they were very excited to wish uncle teddy a happy birthday, but more excited for the pool. that was the first item on the agenda. jj and ellie immediately wanted to get in the pool. after changing into their swimsuits, jj jumped into the pool and ellie got in with jesse. i eventually got in later. jj kept jumping in off the diving board. he was having a blast. they had pool noodles and water guns. tutu sonia even got in later. she really needed it. baby sophia is due to be born this wednesday at 7:30am. we are so excited to meet her. today was really hot!! the cool water felt awesome. we had hamburgers and hot dogs with amazing cupcakes for dessert. in fact all the food was incredible. thanks jamie and jackie.
you would think that after 3 hours of swimming and eating, the kids would be exhausted...but no. we had to force them to get out of the pool and go home. they fell asleep before we even got home (the party was 5 min. from our house). to add, they both slept for almost 3 hours!! it was awesome.
i took some pictures before we left for the party in both of their red, white, and blue outfits because i knew once we got there, they wouldnt look the same. i also did ellie's hair a fun way. it turned out really well. i was happy. in fact it even stayed in the entire day even through swimming and naptime. jj was completely annoyed with me taking so many pictures. while he was eating, as you can see below, he refused to smile anymore and proclaimed, "no more pictures" and wouldnt look at the camera. his mohawk is getting very long. i just buzzed the sides this morning. ellie is always up for pictures. she is a complete ham for the camera.

yesterday, jj had a playdate with his friend stone. this time we went to the local bowling alley. jj had never been before, so everything was new for him. i had to explain all the rules and what everything means. he absolutely loved the shoes. i forgot to tell him about not crossing the foul line before the lane. he slipped, not too hard though. of course, we had the bumpers up and they even have a ramp for them to give the ball some speed. he hardly used the ramp. he preferred to just throw it down the lane. he had an awesome time and cant wait to go back again, soon. can you believe that he played three games and his scores were 74, 108, and 70! 108!! i dont even think i could get a 108.
here's a scary story!!!! yesterday, jj was cleaning up his toys downstairs and was putting them into the toy trunk when he saw it...a huge spider. he let out a blood curdling scream and ran to the couch and cried. "there is a huge spider behind the trunk". jesse and i tried calming him down and got some things to get the spider with. jesse started to pull out the trunk while i watched to see where the spider would go if it ran away. as soon as jesse pulled it out, he yelled, "oh my gosh!! it IS huge". i moved to see it. yeah...it was enormous. it was brown and gross. jesse smashed it with the swiffer mop. it wasnt very fast. i picked it up with a napkin and took a picture. i put my thumb in the picture to show how big it was. now once you see the picture, you have to imagine the legs out. because it was dead, the legs curled in and really didnt do it justice to its size.
i forgot to mention, it was hairy too. ewwww!
i know...everyone knows that ellie is extremely accident prone. her list of hospital trips and stays for injuries surpasses mine and probably jesse's combined. she is only 3. it really is no surprise to me that she got hurt the other day...again. she and jj were running around and wrestling on the ground. she was on top of jj and then jj pulled his head up as she leaned down to him. CRACK. the back of his head slammed into her face. it was a loud sound for sure. she cried and we put some ice on it. the picture was taken a couple of hours later. she is fine now, and honestly it is only a matter of time before the next one happens.
