california is on fire!!!!!!!!!

UPDATED: i wrote the post below in the afternoon, and many things have happened since then.

a different fire erupted here in yucaipa and has scorched about 500 acres so far. 2,000 houses have been evacuated. one of them being jesse's sister. they are staying with us. i honestly dont think their house is in danger but just in case. this particular fire has changed course so drastically in the hours that i have watched it. it was first moving west down the hill, then south and now east and southeast back toward oak glen. very scary stuff. please pray for those who are affected.

ORIGINAL POST: well, for those of you who live somewhat close to LA know that so cal is on fire. the smoke from the station fire (the one near pasadena and mt wilson) is infiltrating the high desert. ash is falling and smoke is filling the air. it is definitely disgusting. it reminds me of the day that jj was born. he was born in october 03. that fire season was AWFUL. when i went outside to get in the car after my water broke. i couldnt see our neighbors across the street. the smoke was so thick. my labor and delivery nurse had to leave and get her son from school because they cancelled it due to smoke. luckily she made it back before i birthed my darling son. barely though!!! thats another story.

the station fire has claimed the lives of two firefighters. it is so sad. those men and women are so brave to be there in the thick of danger. we are so lucky to have them.

on some other fire news closer to home, we have a fire in oak glen. oak glen is known for their apple orchards. they are only a 5 -10 minute drive away. it started yesterday afternoon and has grown to 1000 acres. 0% containment. they havent evacuated us. we arent that close to the fire. they have evacuated oak glen. i pray that everything in the community will be saved. i keep hearing the helicopters and planes overhead as they come and go to drop water and fire retardant on the fire. the news has said that the trees and bushes in those areas havent been burned in over 100 years. so they are producing huge flames.

for all my readers (i know i have SO many ;), please pray for the firefighters and for their safety as they continue the fight to save california homes.
