labor day fun

we had a very eventful weekend.

on saturday, i met my mom and we drove down to costa mesa to meet trevor for lunch and hang out a bit. it was so very hot and humid there. i was able to meet his roommate and see his girlfriend, lauren. we walked the campus a little bit with the kids while we waited for everyone else to finish getting ready. then we drove down to the newport pier to have lunch.

some advice: dont drive down there expecting to find parking quickly, on a saturday afternoon, on labor day weekend.

once we were finally parked, we ate at rockin' baja lobster. awesome food. their surf and turf tacos were AMAZING. then the kids had to have seashells, so we wandered down to the ocean and got some. we were sweaty, sticky and sandy. not such a great combination. then we drove back, but jj and ellie were going back with gaga donna to her house. she kept them for us for two nights. THANKS GAGA!!!!

jesse and i had a relaxing afternoon and night. we ate sushi for dinner and watched "state of play" on pay per view. that is an awesome movie. for those who havent seen it, you should buy it and watch it. so good. it has russell crowe, ben affleck and rachel mcadams.

the next morning, i baked a cheesecake (from scratch)(sorry, no pictures) and finished cleaning for our house guests. our great friends from san diego were coming up to visit for the weekend. while we waited for them to arrive, we met our other awesome friends for dinner, the streets. like always we went to the delicious cheesecake factory. they are doing well and are expecting their third child in april. congrats to them!!!!

later that evening, wes, brit and ben arrived. we all stayed up late talking and playing video games. actually only the boys played video games. the girls watched our wedding video. funny stuff.

the boys got up early the next morning and played a round of golf. the girls talked some more and cooked for the bbq later that day. our friend, lauren, also came up from temecula to visit. we had a fabulous time catching up and relaxing with good friends. we had such a great time, that they didnt end up leaving until around 8pm.

i think everyone was pooped from such a long day, even the kids. they didnt even put up a fight to go to bed. love when that happens. i should have gone to bed earlier, because jillian came calling far too early this morning.

while we are on the topic of jillian... i am on day 23. only one more week left of her. she is still kicking my butt. i wish i had taken before pictures to compare with the afters i plan on taking.

i am still training for my 5k. i run this coming weekend. i am going to post my goal so i am really held accountable. i am hoping to break 30 min. whenever i have run, i am around 32 min. (with walking some parts uphill). i am hoping the excitement of the race day will increase my speed a bit. i will post after i run to let everyone know how i did. i am definitely not running for a medal, but i do want an acceptable time. wish me luck!!!!!!
