i have been a little distracted lately. at the moment, i am addicted to books.
i LOVE to read. i just read in spurts. i will read a couple good books, then completely stop for months at a time. i love to read in the summer and when i am traveling, when things are more laid back and relaxed. when i dont have a billion things to do. when i hear of a good book, i read it and then it happens. i get hooked. i get that reading bug that consumes me. i am like an animal that is constantly looking for my next meal. in january when we went to canada, i read "same kind of different as me" and loved it. our friend, ben, told me of his favorite reads. most of which i have never read, but one book series intrigued me. it was a huge task to undertake, but i was up for the challenge.
the harry potter books
i know, i know. i am almost 30 yrs old and reading a kids book, but those things are addicting!!! i figured that some day jj will want to read them, and i want to know what the boy is reading about. you never know with books these days. most are pretty tame, but some are a bit too "out there" for kids. you know? anyway, i starting reading harry potter soon after the new year. i didnt want to buy the books, because it would cost me a fortune, so i would be checking them out of the library when i could. the only bad thing about the library is that when they dont have the exact book you're looking for there, they have to put a request in to another library. that takes about a week. talk about torture. after the first book, i was hooked. i hated that i had to wait a stinkin' week to get the next book, so i checked a different book out while i waited. i was like a crazy person; constantly reading at every free minute i had. while i ate meals, while i waited for dinner to cook, during naps, waiting for jj at basketball practice, waiting to pick him up from school... i was becoming one of those people, i could never relate to, who always had a book with them to read. it was consuming my mind, well, it still is consuming my mind.
i am currently on the fourth harry potter book and cant wait to finish it. only problem is that this book is ENORMOUS!!! the first three were reasonable sizes, but this one and the rest to follow are at least double the size of ones i have read. this might turn out to be a good thing, i need to pace myself and not try and finish the entire book in one day. you know, i do have a family to take care of, j.k. rowling. why did you make these so good!!!????
so there it is. the reason i have been ignoring my blog. i am a book reading freak! it shouldnt last too much longer, i promise. once i am done with these, i will get bored again and stop reading. at least that is what i am telling myself.

I have been told by lots of people that since I LOVED the twilight series that I should read the Harry Potter but time is scarce lately lol!
I am right there with you, I am horrible at keeping my blog up to date because I always seem to find something else to do! I understand the love of reading as I have started to become one of those as well! I have three books I am reading right now! One series I am really into is by Lauraine Snelling. It has to do with a norwegian family coming over to America and settling in the dakotas and everything they had to go through. She has like five different series with a handful of books in each one so I think I will be busy with these books for awhile. Happy Reading!
Enjoy the kid-lit equivalent of crack. Glad you're enjoying it. Who needs sleep anyways, right.
Happy Reading.
PS The dirty secret is that kid-lit books are usually MORE enjoyable than grown-up lit, and just as well written. I've read tons of both and... Well. There. I said it.
PPS I've got plenty more kid-lit crack to deal you if you get withdrawals after HP. ;)
