this past weekend we did lots of fun things. on saturday, jesse and two of his brother in laws went to the barrett-jackson car show/auction at the oc fairgrounds. the boys loved it. they even got to see some of the live auction going on. it's the same one they televise on the speed channel.
while the boys were out, i met one of my best friends for lunch, carri smith. she was visiting from washington. i brought the kids and we met at in-n-out. so good! we get so spoiled here in california. i guess because i know we have in-n-out here, i really dont go to eat there much. i feel bad for former californians who have tasted the goodness, but arent close enough to go. i really feel bad for out of staters who have NEVER tasted the in-n-out goodness. especially when it's animal style!
i had jj take this picture of us. this was probably take #14. with some editing, it actually turned out ok. :)
jesse's dad came to visit this week with some of his family. the kids and the adults had a nice time with "papas". he got to see jj practice at his baseball camp and spend a lot of quality time with the grandkids. i am sure he was exhausted by the end. they started the 19 hour drive home today. we will miss you papas!! come back to visit soon!!!!
during the week, while papas was here. each of the kids hosted a dinner for the family. our night was wednesday. i had a great menu planned bbq chicken, mashed potatoes, and veggie stir fry. while i was using the oven, something fell to the bottom of the oven and started smoking. so my bright idea was to take it out. i almost got it out, until...i burned my arm. really bad. the bottom of my forearm hit the door of the oven and my reaction was to lift my arm and since my arm was still in the oven, i burned the top of my forearm too. way to go me! i have three burns total. i figured that since all of them blistered, they were probably 2nd degree burns. today i accidentally scraped the forming scab off one of them. bad news. the skin is light/bright pink. gross. here are my burns before today.

today we celebrated father's day with my parents and brother. we went to the discovery science center in santa ana. we also met our good friends the street family there. the kids were so happy to see each other. even though we are going to visit them in 4 days.
this weekend, the center had a special exhibit from "walking with dinosaurs". they brought out a baby t-rex for the kids. jj even got to touch it. the t-rex was 6 months old and actual size. all the kids loved it. some of the kids loved it from a distance...one of them being ellie. whenever the t-rex came close to her, she hid and tried desperately to disappear into the ground. at the end, she started to cry because the t-rex came too close, too many times.
the center had a tinkertoy exhibit, hockey exhibit and a grossology exhibit. the kids had a blast! the adults were tired and ready to go. afterward, the adults went to eat at a great seafood place called the rockin' crab house. sooooo good! it was a very nice day with great family and friends. we are so lucky to have them in our lives.
jj getting to pet the baby t-rex
this was awesome. it was a huge pin art toy.
jj laying on a bed of nails! he love it. ellie did not. surprise, surprise.
pop pop showing ellie what happens to your food after you eat it. the grossology exhibit was very...interesting. it talked about gas, body odor, poop, boogers and zits. they even had a playground that imitated the digestive tract.
jj pulling his own weight. LOL. i know i am a comedian.
after we got home, we had a HUGE milestone happen in our house. jj finally learned to ride a bike without training wheels. it literally took one time of pushing him to get it. turning is a whole other issue. braking too. he just needs some more practice and he will be a pro.
he told us last week, that he wants to save his money to buy a dirt bike. a motor dirt bike. we informed him that he has to first learn to ride a regular bike before we set him on a motor bike. wouldnt you know that the first thing he said to us after he rode his bike today, "now i can get a dirt bike!" ummm, i think that is a long, long time from now, son. but we still love you and are very proud of you!
how was your weekend?
