pillowcase dress and headbands

this past week, i was busy being martha stewart.

i had a friend, whose daughter's birthday was coming up, so i had a great idea for a present. i decided to make her a couple of headbands and a pillowcase dress. i had bought 2 pillowcases a while back and got the stuff for the headbands at michaels. i just wrapped and hot glued a ribbon around a plain headband and hot glued a fake flower on the side. you can do any color and any flower you like. i did a couple for ellie and it is her favorite accessory. she loves it!!!

my next project was the pillowcase dress. i googled it and found many different ideas and patterns for the dress. i finally ended up going with this site. it was easy and straight forward. the only exception i made was that i brought in and hemmed the sides of the dress before i cut the armholes. it made it look more like a dress and less like a pillowcase.

i was very pleased with how it turned out. you never know with me and sewing machines. for some reason, just when i get the hang of it, the machine starts to misbehave.

i gave the dress and the headbands to my friend this weekend, for her daughter. i hope she gets good use of them.
