playing catch up

i am sick. i started feeling sick on monday and today i am full blown sick. i currently have tissue stuffed in my nose and my eyes are watering (as ellie would say, "ice water").

i had to renew my driver's license this year. i had to actually go in to the DMV to do it. i didnt make an appt, i just bit the bullet and it wasnt too bad. from start to finish, it took about 2 hours.

this week we bought jj his backpack and lunch pail for school. we also bought him a couple shirts and some shoes. he also informed us that he wants "a hat that is straight and not curved". which translates as the brim of the hat is to be straight across, not curved. my son has grown into a surfer/skater boy. he also informed us that "my friends have hats like that and they look cool". ahhh, peer pressure starts so young.

jesse goes back to work next week. it has been very nice having him home this past month.

as many day trips as we had this month, i still felt like we had a nice, relaxing, lazy month. we got to pretty much stay up late and sleep late every day. by sleeping late, i mean 8am, and thats only because the kids would wake us up saying, "i'm hungry" "can you make us breakfast?".

jj starts 2nd grade in a little over 2 weeks!!! 2nd grade!!! what has the world come to? my little boy is going to be in the second grade!!! this is same boy who at night still likes to "play with my hair" but refuses to hold my hand in public. he says, "mama, i am big enough to walk by myself". oh ok. no problem. tear, tear.

i am throwing my dad a party for his 70th bday this weekend!!! as stressful as it is planning a party, i love it. i wouldnt have it any other way. i love making sure that everything is just perfect and as it should be. i am doing the cooking and the baking for the party. i have a busy week ahead of cleaning and cooking and making the house look great. of course, i will be taking the pictures too. :)

this past month i have forced my husband to watch the twilight movies. i told him they arent as bad as they sound. the story is very good. so he watched the first one. he liked it. he watched the second one and he still liked it. now on sunday we are going to watch eclipse. he is actually looking forward to it. who would have thought?

jj has his first loose tooth. because it is his first tooth, he is scared to death to let me touch it. he is afraid of it hurting. i can literally bend the whole tooth forward and backward and he still wont let me pull it. my mom even tried bribing him with money, staying up late, other stuff, and he still said no. most of the kids his age already have their permanent two front teeth in. he is barely losing his bottom teeth.

now, because every night i want to see jj's tooth, ellie is convinced that she has a loose tooth too.

jesse got his school's scores in from the CST. as a whole, his school did very well. they went up 18 points. certain classes and certain subgroups didnt do well at all. so, he is happy they went up, but disappointed that they could have gone up higher. his school is only one of three in his district that actually improved their scores. when jesse arrived at his school 3 years ago, his school was 12th place out of 12 schools. yes, his school had the worst scores of the entire district! now his school is 5th place of 12 schools. 4th, 3rd, and 2nd places are only within 10 points of him too!! what an amazing jump his school has had the last 3 years. we are so proud of him and his school. his teachers work super hard and the kids are pushed to their full potential and now it has paid off for them. great job adelanto elementary school!!! wooohooo!
