recipes

i have been trying a few new recipes this week for dinner. new recipes are always a little scary. even though, i am fully capable of following a recipe, it doesnt always turn out well. i have had many a disaster dinner in my house.

the first one was a recipe for shrimp fried rice. i didnt have shrimp, so i used chicken instead and i also added a few extra veggies too. besides, those tweaks, i followed the recipe exactly. i knew the recipe's creator was well known for her asian dishes, so i figured she couldnt be wrong.

it was AMAZING!!! even the hubby liked it. he is a picky eater when it comes to new things.

the next recipe was for an italian sausage pasta bake. this was super easy and a one pot/pan dish. i doubled it and it served our family of 4 plus leftovers. i used sausage, but if you dont like sausage, i am sure you could use ground beef or ground turkey. i also didnt have any canned tomatoes, only premade sauce. it worked fine. this recipe was AMAZING. it definitely was gourmet quality.

when i served the kids this, they finished it faster than any other meal they have ever eaten. i am serious!!! they even asked for seconds. that NEVER happens. i even had it for lunch today, and it was just as tasty reheated. i highly recommend this pasta dish. SO YUMMY!

the last one is for the peanut butter frosting is made for my brother's birthday cake. i found a couple recipes for this and they all were practically the same, so this is pretty easy to find. you really have to be a peanut butter lover to like this. i frosted the between layer of two round cakes and the outside of both. someone gave me the idea to put strawberry jelly, or your favorite jelly, jam or preserves between the layers and frost the outside with the pb frosting. i think i might try that next time.

this recipe will give you a lot of frosting. i actually ended up throwing some out.

let me know if you tried these and how they turned out. until next time...
