I just finished eating this and I was dying to write this post to tell you all how AMAZING this meal is. I mean it. a.m.a.z.i.n.g.
to start, here is the link for the original recipe for “simple sesame nooodles”. I have made this recipe probably 3 or 4 times so I have adapted and changed some things along the way. so for better pictures and the original recipe click on the above link. otherwise keep reading for my version.
let’s start by saying that I am a wus when it comes to spicy food, so this meal is adapted to my taste. I will tell you later on where you can add more of this or that to make it more spicy.
another note: the turkey in this dish tones down the asian flavor a lot. so if you don’t necessarily love asian cuisine, then add chicken, turkey or beef to it and you will love this. I promise. if you are an asian food lover like my family, then the noodles by themselves are fantastic. they will rock your world. jj loved them!! he had seconds and was making “mmmm"’s and “oooohhhh”’s while he was eating.
last note: I doubt most you will have all these items in your pantry or fridge, so you will definitely have to plan ahead and buy them at the grocery store. it is an investment for some of the ingredients, but you will get so much use from them, that the cost will even itself out in the end. find them on the international food aisle. they run about $2-3 a bottle, some might be a little more. trust me. just buy it. you won’t regret it!
RECIPE:
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 cloves garlic (finely minced) {unless you want your 4 yr. old daughter to chew on a big chunk of garlic and proceed to scream that her mouth is on fire and drink all her drink}
3 tblsp white sugar
2 tblsp rice vinegar
2 tblsp sesame seed oil
4 tblsp canola/vegetable oil
2 tblsp hot water
1/8 tsp hot chili oil (for extra spice, make it 1/4 or even 1/2 tsp)
1 lb angel hair pasta
boil the pasta. while the pasta cooks, measure soy sauce into a large mixing bowl. add the sugar and whisk until dissolved. add rice vinegar, sesame oil, vegetable oil, hot water and hot chili oil, and whisk well. the smell will rock your world! when the pasta is done, drain and add to the bowl. mix all together.
at this point I added one of the ziploc baggies of turkey meat, which is probably about 1 lb. then I mixed it all in.
the original recipe calls for sliced green onions on top, which would make it tasty, but since I don’t normally have green onions on hand, I didn’t add them.
that’s it. super easy to put together. whenever I make this I feel like a super chef. it is that good. this amount of food feeds our family of 4 with 1-2 lunch portions for the next day.
I hope you try this and tell me how you liked or didn’t like it.
