we had our first full week off of school last week, and it was super busy!!
ellie started her swim lessons, which are going pretty well. she is doing much better than i thought she would, but she still has to get much more brave to make it, though. i will post pictures next week. she has one more week of this session left. it seems like she enjoys it, but she is still very scared. my goal for her is to get her to swim around the pool with floaties on. that would be success!!!
since our library opened back up after being remodeled and upgraded, they have a lot more kid activities and programs for the summer. we are excited to be reading and hanging out at the library. i will miss the weekly preschool storytime next year. :(
also, ellie had her tball team party last week and she got her very own trophy!! that's what she keeps telling people. i made cupcakes and a team slideshow for the kids.
jj had his baseball tournament this past week too. their first game was last friday and they won. their next game was on the next day, saturday, and they won that one also. since they won both games they stayed in the winner's bracket, but it was going to be a tough next round because we were missing one of our major players. even with the change in positions, the boys did great and won that one too. that game was a little dramatic because our umpire ended up ejecting our head coach from the game. the boys kept on going and finished well, but the bad part was that since he was ejected, the rules are that he can't coach in the next game. the next game just happened to be the championship game!!! what a bummer!! jesse took over for him and again, the boys played amazing!!! their defense is so solid and we also have some great hitters too. as soon as the game was over, he came running out on the field and they tackled him. it was a great time. at closing ceremonies, the boys got first place medals!!!
that brings us back to today. as the second half of jesse's father's day present, i planned for us to go have a stadium tour of dodgers stadium.
years ago, when my mom and i went to new york, we went on a tour of the old yankee stadium and got to go inside the clubhouse and dugout. it was awesome. so, when i heard that the dodgers offered this i couldn't wait to surprise him. we were right on time as far as getting there, but then we get pulled over. great! the good news is that it was just a fix it ticket for the tinted front windows, but he was taking forever and we needed to go!! so we finally get to the park and make it just in time. the tour lasted about 90 minutes and was amazing!!! we got to see the press box, a suite, walk the halls of the suite level, the dugout club, and finally we made it to the field. it was great!!! we got to go inside the dugout and take pictures. we weren't allowed on the grass, but on the warning track was ok. our guide gave us a ton of cool trivia and info.
do you know how the dodgers got their name? what year was dodgers stadium built in? why did they leave brooklyn?
we saw lots of memorabilia and the 1988 world championship trophy!! i think it was a win for a great father's day present!!
