it hasn't been that long has it!!! ummm, yeah. so i have been procrastinating just a bit on my posts for the summer. in fact, i haven't posted one single one. eeeeek!
let's see if i can pick up where i left off...
we went on our sequoia national forest vacation. it was AMAZING!!! the drive wasn't too bad either. it took about 4 hours to get to our hotel at the bottom of the mountains. from that point, it was about an hour to get up in the thick of the giant forest. we got there early enough that we were able to go see some things that same day. the main road leading up into the forest had road closures the entire time we were there. they would only open the road going up on the top of the hour and the road going down 15 after the hour, so you were constantly racing against the clock to make it through the construction zone.
to describe what we saw there is almost impossible. the trees are HUGE!!!! almost to the point of looking fake. something else that i discovered is that this was not a "relaxing, let's stroll through the sequoias kind of trip", it was a "hiking, trekking, going on adventures kind of trip". the kids loved it, none the less.
we saw everything that they had to offer for us up there. we hiked to the very top of moro rock (SUPER SCARY!!!), hiked through streams, rocks, and the forest to see a beautiful waterfall (we only had one major meltdown), the kids became junior forest rangers, we saw deer and bears eating in the meadow and we saw God's beautiful creation close up. the kids were able to swim at the hotel pool and we got to spend some good gaga and pop pop time together. the only bad part was that jesse wasn't able to join us because of his new job.
i took way too many pictures, but here are a few of my favorites!!
jj standing on the big stump (this trail was the most rugged and kind of scary)
