it has been 2 weeks since school has started and we are finally in a groove!
i think i was just as excited for them to go to school as they were. it did feel a little weird to be driving back home by myself. i stopped by the grocery store and it was definitely odd to not have a little one trailing behind me.
i think jj was most nervous because he was at a new school and he really only knew a few people from playing sports with them in years past. he did really well on his first day. i really love his teacher! she seems like she will really push him and expect great things from him. i think the school will also pull some amazing work out of jj. i love the way they run their academics. if your child is performing at a higher grade level of work, they will put you in that level of class, rather than hold you back. i think for jj it will be the best thing. even though he is young for his grade, when we expect much from him, he steps up to the challenge.
ellie was over the moon about starting school. she had never been to school before, since i had homeschooled her for preschool. she immediately made some friends and is doing really well at school. i think her biggest problem will be talking with her friends when she isn't supposed to. i have already volunteered a few times in her classroom and it is great to be in there. i already know her classmates and i love seeing them grow. diego, her cousin, is in the same class as she is. it is so funny because they have spent the last 2 years spending every weekday together, and they hardly interact in class. he hangs out with his friends and she with her friends.
i can't wait to see how much they have grown from the first day of school to the last day. i am so glad they both are at inland leaders!
