new updates

well, just some new news. just before thanksgiving break we had jj's first parent/teacher conference. it went really well. he got all 4's and 3's. that is the equivalent of A's and B's. the only 3's he got were in things they dont evaluate until the end of kindergarten. she said that he is doing really well in class. he has some problems focusing on solo work. when it is group work, he stays on track, but when they have to write on their own,he begins to misbehave and talk. she said she would move him away from the people he talks to after break and also give him a different set of sight words. the sight words she gives the class, he knows already. his is reading well and truly amazes me at how good he is getting.

last friday, i took jj and ellie to the mall because we had some shopping to do and while we were walking around i forgot that santa was there. so we waited in line for about 20 min. to see him. jj went right up and told him what he wanted for christmas, while ellie stood back. i thought she would be scared, but she turned around to look at me with the biggest grin on her face. words cant even describe her face, except for "pure excitement". when it was her turn, she talked his ear off. i was talking to jj and i could hear her talking away and "showing him" what she wanted. he kept nodding at her and she kept talking and talking and talking. finally i had to pull her away and say goodbye. she was so happy. after we saw santa we ate at subway. this is how you know your child watches too much tv. jj realized we were getting subway and picked his sandwich up and smiled and said, "subway...eat fresh" then took a bite. also on friday, ellie goes to ballet and she was dancer of the day. mind you, every child gets a chance to be dancer of the day, but that day she really deserved it. normally, she is so intrigued by the mirror that she forgets the routine and just does her own thing. friday, she actually stayed on track. her teacher let us know they will have a ballet recital on the 20th at a local assisted living center. i am hoping to take some video and possible post it on the blog. we will see how technically advanced i am.

also this weekend i got a new phone. i was eligible for an upgrade and got the new sprint rant. its the one they advertise on tv. i am not so advanced in the cell phone area, but am really excited to learn. jesse has the iphone and already has it mastered. i am getting there. this phone has a camcorder which i am hoping to use at the recital and by using the sd card, upload it to the blog. it sounds easy, but knowing me it will be much harder. we will see.

yesterday, i took ellie and jj to the dentist. this was ellie's first visit and jj's third. i love their dentist. he is soo cool. he had tv for them to watch, he speaks in code names to not frighten the kids when talking to the parents, and he makes them feel really at ease. we did not have any fits or screaming. which is great. no cavities either. then jj had his yearly physical in which he did great. he was absolutely petrified of getting shots. he kept asking, but as it turned out he only got a tb test. side note: two months ago i took them both in to get flu shots. i didnt tell them until just before the nurse came in. ellie went first and cried a little. she was more shocked than anything. then when i went to get jj, he started to go limp. he purposefully throws himself on the ground and is dead weight for me to pick him up. i somehow put him on the table and hold his arms down. he is screaming bloody murder. as if someone is literally killing him. it was embarrassing but funny too. it was over before he knew it, but such an ordeal. anyway, he was glad the tb test didnt hurt too much. he is right at 50% for height and weight. he is the shortest one in his class. maybe he'll grow when he gets bigger.

jj has only 1 1/2 weeks of school left before break. he has a christmas program on the 17th, so maybe i will try to video him then too. hope everyone is doing well.
