golf and the best thing ever!!!

on saturday, a friend of ours, who lives in temecula, was having a birthday party. so jesse and i went and left the kiddos at home with their gaga chacho. we left early. i mean EXTREMELY early. like before the sun was up early. jesse had planned to play golf with a good friend in san marcos around 9am. we ate breakfast and the wives tagged along to watch our darling husbands play their little hearts out. the things wives do for the men they love. actually, i didnt mind at all. it was fun watching him. he did really well too. he shot 89!!! (see pictures below)

after golf, we drove to temecula for the party. we were only going to stay for the day time part of the party. we had to get back home before the afterhours part. it was great seeing everyone though. colleen made awesome food!! so yummy.

here's the good part. after we ate, we divided into teams (unfairly, i might add) and played a rousing game of wiffleball. the other team had way more athletes than ours did, but whatever. we started out doing awesome. we were winning 6-0 after 2 innings. they later caught up, but who cares about that. anyway, we played and played and no team was scoring. we finally decided the first team to 7 wins. our two big guys came up and got out immediately. i, being very sarcastic, said, "i'll be the savior!" and grabbed the bat. i figured i had nothing to lose. my sweet husband was pitching to me and instead of a "hit a home run, honey" or a "swing it hard, babydoll" comment, he says, "just get on base". oh really! you dont trust me to be the game winner?! first pitch, i though i am going to hit this ball over their heads. so i swung hard and high. well, guess what happened?

i pulled a babe ruth! yes you heard me! i hit the game winning run. HOME RUN!!!! i was so excited i think i peed a little. jesse even picked me up like they do in the major leagues. it was the most fun i had in a long time. thanks kyle and colleen for a great party. sorry we couldn't stay. we will have to do it again, soon.

now, i have found the most amazing store EVER!!!!!!!! i was shopping at a local mall for some pants and long shirts for the kids. i just happened to park in a different area than i normally do. i was walking down a different entry way and saw it. $1.00 bookstore. i started looking through the children's section and realized that they had a ton of really awesome books. lots of hardbacks. mostly old books from when i was growing up. i looked through the chapter books area. i saw a whole shelf of babysitter's club books. you know you read them too.

i couldnt believe the assortment of books they had. it reminded me of garage sale books. really old, but in good condition. not really sorted, so you do have to dig to find a good steal. this store is my new favorite thing.

oh, and i found something even better when i got home. i was looking through the books that i ended up buying and saw that on the inside cover of one of the books was the author's autograph!!!!! seriously!!!!! guess which author it is?! ERIC CARLE. i thought it might be a fake, but maybe it isnt. who knows!!!

i got amelia bedelia, judy blume, berenstain bears, richard scarry, paddington bear, and eric carle

Thanks so much for coming down for Kyle's bday bbq. Wish I could have spent more time with you guys. Poor little Rowan was NOT napping well so unfortunately, I had to spend way too much time at the house. :(
