i know, you're asking, "where were you last thursday?". well, i was very busy last week doing all sorts of things. kid things, adult things, chores, laundry, etc. i didn't get a chance to post anything last thursday, so this week, i am using last week's topic of top ten authors or books. not that this week's topic is not as interesting, sara. i still love ya. i will just be able to knock out this post a little faster.
here we go...
TOP TEN BOOKS OR AUTHORS
1. The Shack by W.M. Paul Young- what an amazing book. i picked this up in an airport and couldnt put it down. i think i finished it in 2 days. awesome!!! it gave me so much insight on my personal relationship with God, and made me look differently at why things happen the way they do.
2. Arthur Miller- i remember reading so many of his books in high school. i havent read much of him lately, considering my reading time is spent with kids books and homework and celebrity gossip mags. The Crucible is awesome.
3. Beautiful Boy by David Sheff- this is a story written about a father's journey through his son's drug addiction. it really doesnt sugar coat anything, and shows you how awful addictions are. i also read Tweak by Nic Sheff. this book is written from the addict's perspective. very interesting set of books. lots of insight.
4. The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch- if you havent read this book yet, all i have to say is "what is wrong with you!". seriously go buy it and read it. you will finish in a day. very easy reading and you will need a tissue box.this is going to be a bold statement, but if you don't cry or get choked up, then you dont have a heart.
5. Eric Carle-all of his books are awesome. they are so easy for kids to read and understand. i really like the illustrations!
6. Kevin Henkes-he is the author of my favorite kids book, Chrysanthemum. he has written many more books with the same characters, but there is something about that book, so sweet and honest. please check out his books.
7. David Shannon-i LOVE the No! David books. they are hilarious and short. just the right combination for little ones.
8. Benjamin James Watson-i had to give a shout out to an extremely talented author who has just written his first children's book. ben was my husband's college roommate. if you havent read his book yet, you should go here and buy it.
9. Mercer Mayer- when i think of this children's author, i remember reading his books in the dentist's waiting room as a kid. jj and ellie have a handful of his books and love them so much.
10. Dr. Seuss- i mean seriously. "Cat in the Hat", "Green Eggs and Ham", "Horton Hear a Who", "One Fish, Two Fish..." the list could go on and on. who doesnt love a good rhyming book.
i kind of drifted off from the adult selection to kiddie literature, but nowadays, kids' books are all i read. occasionally i will have a chance to read a good book, but only when i go somewhere without kids.
if you have your own top ten list, go to domestically challenged and link up. i hope everyone has a great weekend.

Embarrrassing to say but I must REALLY be out of the loop as the only author I recognize is Dr. Seuss. Gah! I need/want to start reading adult books again....and soon!
A great list for me to start with!
I really want to read The Last Lecture but don't know if I can handle it. Just seeing him speak on TV always had me sobbing within minutes, even when he was still alive. What an amazing man.
I have heard about the Last Lecture, but haven't read it. Many others on here, like The Shack, Eric Carle, Dr. Suess, David Shannon, are all staples at my house! As a teacher, i adore children's lit. Check out Melanie Watts and Mo Willams- they are fabulous as well!
Oh, and always feel free to use your own idea!!
I read The Last Lecture online, through a PDF and loved that! I remember Mercer Meyer books. We used to have a whole collection of them growing up. Thanks for stopping by my blog, btw!
I loved both The Shack and The Last Lecture. Such wonderful books!
And all those children's books are great too.
