pokemon party

FINALLY! i have been in the process of this post for seriously 3 days now. time...i just dont have much of it and this stinkin' blogger website! i tried 4 times to upload my pictures to this post before they finally took. so now i am finally ready to post :)

last thursday was jj's bday. he turned 6 and so we had his birthday party on saturday (halloween) with family and some close family friends. after the party we were going trick or treating around the neighborhood, but that is for another post.

jj wanted a pokemon party, of course! so i began the search for a good pokemon cake to make. i had purchased all the needed materials and was ready to start. i made two 13x9 sheet cakes and stacked them. i made one layer blue and one layer green. i just have to say that food coloring is awesome! i frosted it with white frosting and wrote the pokemon emblem on the top and made a small 3d pokemon ball right under it. my goals for the characters was to make them on wax paper and freeze them so they would just peel off so i could put them on the cake. sounds easy peasy right? totally wrong. they were nice and frozen, when i attempted to peel them off, but it wouldnt come off the spatula. so i improvised and cut them off with wax paper still attached to the bottom. no one could tell, except for me. i was bummed it didnt work like i wanted it to, but it turned out ok. i was very proud with the final product. so was jj.

i also made dinner too. chicken enchiladas, rice, and beans. we had a TON of leftovers. i always get worried that i will run out of food, so i made 4 dozen trays of enchiladas and had 1 1/2 leftover. thats ok. remember i am the queen of leftovers!

jj got a lot of great gifts. pokemon and bakugan stuff and money too! his favorite. his present from us was a trip to a really cool animal park in arizona! we are going there for the week before thanksgiving. it is called the out of africa park. they have a safari tour where you can feed giraffes, a tiger show where you can feed a tiger, and a snake show where you can hold a huge python! that is right up his alley. he was excited, and to be honest so are we. while we are in arizona, we are planning to travel to williams where they offer a polar express train ride. we wear our pj's on board, they serve hot cocoa (like in the book/movie) and they read the book while we travel to the "north pole" to see santa! i cant wait for arizona!!!!!!

anyway, back to jj's party. we had tons of fun and we had a special day celebrating him. he even has been behaving at school lately. which is awesome!

jj at disneyland. we went after school to get his gift card worth $62! he had a mini shopping spree at the world of disney.

the pokemon masterpiece

opening his present from us. we hid it and put a clue in a box, inside of a box, inside of a box, inside of a box. he thought it was great fun.
