LIKE CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!
we are exactly 2 weeks away from christmas day!
we normally start decorating for christmas the day after thanksgiving, but since we were still on our AZ vacation, we couldnt. i eventually got around to it on nov. 30. i pulled out all our decorations and got ready to start the transformation. the very first box i opened, i found the kids' advent calendar and just remembered. i didnt get anything for it! it was supposed to start the very next day. awesome!
after we finished all the other decorating, i made my way out to the store to fill up those advent boxes. to be honest, i like buying the goodies for the boxes and then hiding them around the house. its like a scavenger hunt for the kids.
as you know, i just got a brand new camera. i have spent some time reading all about it and what fun features it has. i think i have got the process down. my only problem has been uploading them to my blog. i used to just stick the sd card in the computer and upload from there. it took forever, but it always worked. now, it wont work like that at all.
i JUST now discovered the world of photo editing. we downloaded picasa yesterday and we have been fiddling with it. cropping, adjusting, all that stuff. i am still figuring some things out, but uploading my pictures to a post is WAY easier and faster!
some of these pictures uploaded funny, just be patient with me. this is a work in progress.
i took some pictures of our stockings. notice that they are not "hung by the chimney with care". since we have wild, rambunctious kids. i didnt think it would be safe to hang stockings on very heavy holders that my children would easily pull down on their heads. so we hang them on top of our china cabinet, which is nice and high!
i handmade jj and ellie's stockings. they definitely aren't perfect, but i love that i made them. my grandma made mine (neon color snowman stocking) and i still use it. i also made jesse's too. i cross-stitched his. that one took the longest.
you will also notice that our tree is fake. to some that is a travesty/mortal sin. to be honest, i cant every remember having a real tree. we have always had a fake tree growing up. being the frugal mom i am, i have saved so much money on my tree. a lot of people dont agree with me and get a real one every year. that's fine, but for us, the fake one works.
as christmas approaches, i hope everyone has a very merry holiday! try not to get too frustrated with all the lines at the stores. just remember the look on your family and friends when they open their gifts. it will all be worth it!

Looks great! I can't wait for Christmas! A fake tree is fine to have and it does save money. We had one last year and josh decided he wanted to go get a real one so I gave our fake one to Chad and we went out and cut one down this year. Unfortunately we thought we were getting a douglas which is cheaper than a noble but when we went to pay it was actually a "special" kind of noble that was $9 a foot and we just happened to get a 7 foot tree! $63 for a tree. Be happy you do have a fake tree. Geesh!
Looks great! For a second there, I couldn't figure out where your tree was, but then I did. What a unique spot! That's too much of a walk way for us with the kitchen table right there, but I like how it looks against the slider!
This is the first year we are doing a fake tree. SO much easier!
