I need to catch up on our family’s current events, so this post might be all over the place.
it is no secret that I LOVE the library. for being the cheapskate that I am, I love the fact that I can read as many books as I want and not have to pay for it! the downside is that sometimes you have to put a book on hold and have to wait your turn to read it. occasionally, I will actually buy a book. I know, what a crazy idea!
the latest book I read is “Heaven is for Real: a little boy’s astounding story of his trip to heaven and back”. it is a great book. it makes you look at heaven in a different light, at least it did for me. I highly recommend this one. this was actually my first book that I bought and read on the kindle.
another reason that I love the library is all the free programs and activities they have for kids. occasionally, the friends of the library have a monthly book sale to raise funds for the library, and this past monthly sale, I bought a bag of books for $3. they had all kinds of books there. if I do say so myself I got a huge bargain! check out the books that I got. super deal!
jj is almost finished with his first harry potter book too!
last week, I was able to chaperone jj on his field trip to the living desert. there were so many chaperones to children that we were each in charge of 2 kids. they saw all kinds of plants and animals that live in the deserts of the world. here is a peak of what they saw and did.

jj and his friend got to ride a camel!!!
when we got back from his field trip, jj starting complaining of a sore throat. the next day I had to keep him from school because he got a fever. he was so sad because he missed his valentine’s party. the next morning he still had a sore throat and fever. by early afternoon he developed a rash and then I took him to urgent care. 2 hours later, the doctor tells me he has scarlet fever! I was thinking WHAT!!!! isnt that what people died from way back when? but when I got home I realized it is just strep throat with a rash. all weekend he was on antibiotics and is feeling much better now. crazy though, huh!
every time a pro-activ commercial comes on and they talk about how their product will take away your acne, ellie chimes in, “mama! you need that! you need that to take away your red spots!” thanks ellie. thanks a lot.
p.s. here is the picture from the newspaper of me and my kindle
yesterday was valentine’s day and I decided to try a new cake out. my attempt was to copy bakerella’s box of chocolates cake, without using fondant. it didn’t turn out bad, but the fondant would have made it awesome. the cake balls were amazing though!
the only difference I did was that I didn’t use melting candy to coat the cake balls, I used chocolate. I melted chocolate chips with some oil and covered the balls in it. it is not as hard on the outside, and they taste a little sweeter, but they are still amazing, even if they don’t look so neat. mmmmm
hope everyone had a great vday!!
