i have been holding on to my wedding dress in storage for the last 10 years and suddenly realized, what in the world am i going to do with it? save it for ellie? what if she doesn't want it or it doesn't fit her or it's not her style. i had heard of this idea for a while now and decided to be brave. i emailed my friends who do photography and makeup and we set up a date to trash the dress.
here's the background on our wedding pictures. our wedding photographer was arrested shortly after he shot our wedding. at that time, he didn't use digital photos, he had negatives and 4x6 proofs to give us to choose our favorites for our enlargements. all that we got back was our 4x6 proofs, stacks and stacks of them. nothing was edited. i chose our favorites and put them into an album and those are our wedding photographs. he didn't shoot many bridal shots, lots of family and bridal party, but hardly any of me in my dress. so long story short, i had been missing the beauty of me in my wedding gown and needed to make it up.
i was pretty lucky and managed to squeeze into my gown. it definitely took some work, but we made it happen. brittany did an amazing job on my makeup. she is super talented and i had colleen do lots of "before" shots so i could make up for what i had been lacking 10 years before. her creativeness is amazing and i had such a great time. we had the kids come with some paint to do the trashing. they were so excited they couldn't believe it when i told them what i wanted them to do. the whole afternoon was exhilarating and i was absolutely floored with the results. the photographs were beautiful!! see for yourself...
i even threw one in from 10 years ago
p.s. the girls did such an amazing job that it was featured on rock n roll bride's website!!! click HERE to see it!!!
